Real estate shark Jeff Lewis took on a bad economy last year by dabbling in interior design. As But more families — even ritzy Los Angeles ones — are choosing remodeling over relocating.

“Flipping houses was in my blood,” Jeff tells Star, “but building a design business is more challenging. There’s more competition and more at stake.” Forced to answer to clients, Jeff has to learn another skill: taking orders. “Besides employees and contractors, I have to deal with a dozen clients. Some of them are wonderful and great, while others are awful and abusive.”

To Jeff’s employees, the idea of a perfectionist boss might sound familiar. This season, the man with the legendary temper will direct rants at his usual targets — executive assistant Jenni Pulos, housekeeper Zoila — as well as new head of business development Gage Edward, who’s also Jeff’s boyfriend! “Unfortunately, I had to show this side of my life because Gage is so involved,” says Jeff, “but you’re not going to see us on dates or swimming in a bathtub.”

But will working with his beau calm Jeff down? “I tell myself that I’ve mellowed, but then I saw clips of this season and realized I’m lying. I’m actually more intense this year!”
