The ‘U Smile’ singer has embraced the trend of ‘planking’ that swept over Hollywood, but rapper Xzibit claims that the pose of laying face down has racist roots.Justin Bieber is among the celebrities who are likely being criticized for embracing the “planking” craze. While the “Baby” hitmaker joins the recent trend of taking a photo of himself lying down flat on his stomach, rapper Xzibit gives a bold disapproval over the “planking” itself.

The former “Pimp My Ride” host believes that the “planking” is closely related to slavery and racial issue. “#Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, its not funny. Educate yourselves,” he tweeted. “Dont get it twisted. I care less where your dumb a**es lay face down and take pictures of the s**t, I’m just telling you where it came from.”

“Planking” has recently become a phenomenon in Hollywood. The term described the trend in which people intentionally take picture of themselves lying face down in some odd places and post it on the internet. Aside from Bieber, several other celebrities who caught the craze include Katy Perry, Jared Followill of Kings of Leon, Ellen Page and Amber Rose.
