Speaking about his on-screen lip-lock with Emma in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’, the ‘Raise Me Up’ hitmaker says it was worth it.Emma Stone is a pro at kissing, according to her “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” co-star Josh Groban. Sharing about their on-screen lip-lock in a recent interview, the 30-year-old tenor singer, who plays Emma’s boorish boyfriend in the movie, revealed that it was actually something he didn’t expect to happen. Indeed, it was not in the scenario.
“We did get to kiss once, and for that alone, it was worth it,” the “You Raise Me Up” hitmaker told GQ. “At the end of one of our scenes, the directors came up to us and said, ‘You know, this is feeling a little goofy. Let’s just try to make this more believable with a kiss at the end.’ And I’m thinking, ‘Holy s***. That wasn’t in the script. I’ve never kissed on camera before.”
“What does that mean? What do I have to do? I didn’t take that class in college,” Josh added. “And Emma’s just this total pro. She pulls out her lip-gloss, and says, ‘It’s cherry. That cool with you?’ I mean, that kiss shall forever be my deer in ‘Stand by Me’, my moment alone, no one will ever be able to treasure it but me.”
During the interview, Josh also talked about how he landed his big screen debut in the romantic comedy movie. He said, “I went in for the audition and after one reading the casting director said, ‘Oh my god, you’re just perfect.’ I was really excited for a moment, then it dawned on me: I just nailed the douchebag character. I could have used a few takes, maybe some notes to get me there. But no, I guess I had it in me all along.”
“Crazy, Stupid, Love.” revolves around Cal Weaver, played by Steve Carell, whose life unravels while he deals with marriage problems and tries to manage his relationship with his children. The movie is also starring Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and Marisa Tome. It has already been released in U.S. theaters since July 29.
